TYLER, Texas (SMU) – For the second consecutive week, senior quarterback Kevin Jennings was recognized by the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award, this time as Honorable Mention, the association announced Tuesday.

Jennings put together another record-breaking performance in a 56-10 win over UC Davis to help the Mustangs to a 2-0 start to the 2026 season.

The South Oak Cliff product was an ever-efficient 14-of-16 passing for 337 yards and five touchdown passes, playing in only the first half. He added three rushes for five yards for 342 yards of total offense. His 337 first-half passing yards were the first time a Mustang has thrown for over 300 yards in a half since Preston Stone (332) vs. Navy, Nov. 25, 2023.

His five first-half TD passes tied an ACC record for the most in one half and tied for the fifth-most in a game in SMU history. Now with 9,073 yards of total offense, Jennings passed Ben Hicks (8,977), setting the SMU program record.

Jennings remains the ACC active leader in career passing yards (8,476) and total offense (9,073). He is sixth in all of Division I in passing yard among active quarterbacks.

A finalist for the award in 2024, Jennings was the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Player of the Week for his performance against Florida State in SMU's opener. The senior came out of the gates with a career-high 430 yards passing on 26 of 36 and three touchdowns. It was the 10th game of his career with three touchdown passes or more, and he became the first quarterback to throw for over 400 yards since Tanner Mordecai (432) at North Texas in 2022.
