Jennings Named Manning Award Stars of the Week

NEW ORLEANS, LA. (SMU) – Following another record-breaking performance in a 56-10 win over UC Davis, senior quarterback Kevin Jennings has been named one of the Manning Award's, sponsored by the Allstate Sugar Bowl, Stars of the Week.

The South Oak Cliff product was an ever-efficient 14-of-16 passing for 337 yards and five touchdown passes, playing in only the first half. He added three rushes for five yards for 342 yards of total offense. His 337 first-half passing yards was the first time a Mustang has thrown for over 300 yards in a half since Preston Stone (332) vs. Navy, Nov. 25, 2023.

His five first-half TD passes tied an ACC record for the most in one half and tied for the fifth-most in a game in SMU history. Now with 9,073 yards of total offense, Jennings passed Ben Hicks (8,977), setting the SMU program record.

Jennings remains the ACC active leader in career passing yards (8,476) and total offense (9,073). He is sixth in all of Division I in passing yard among active quarterbacks.

Throughout the 2026 college football season, the Allstate Sugar Bowl will name eight Manning Award Stars of the Week following each week of action.

Since the Manning Award introduced its Stars of the Week program in 2011, 607 quarterbacks representing 138 different schools have earned the honor. In 2025 alone, 67 quarterbacks were recognized.
