Kristopher Lowe returned to SMU in December 2006 and currently serves as the Associate Athletics Director for Business. In this role, he serves as the athletic department's Chief Financial Officer, overseeing the financial operations of the department including budget management, contract negotiations and financial reporting.
Under his leadership, the athletics department has undergone a transformation by implementing numerous revenue-producing and cost-containment measures to improve the bottom line. In his first four fiscal years at SMU, the athletics department decreased the required level of financial support from the University by 40%.
A four-year basketball letter winner and 2004 team captain, Lowe returned to SMU after three years with Ernst & Young. While at Ernst & Young, he was assigned to various positions in the assurance, advisory and transactions service lines. He gained global business experience through his participation in a financial restatement for a multinational telecommunications client.
Lowe is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in Texas and a member of both the American Institute of CPA's and the National Association of Black Accountants. He is currently enrolled in the Executive MBA Program at SMU's Cox School of Business, with an expected graduation date of May 2014.
A native of Roswell, Georgia, Lowe and his family reside in Dallas.
