SMU's Student-Athletes Give Back Before Finals
Dec. 3, 2012
DALLAS (SMU) - SMU's student-athletes are placing phone calls to donors from Sunday, Dec. 2, through Tuesday, Dec. 4, as part of the annual Mustang Club Thank-A-Thon. SMU's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) supported this initiative with the help of the Mustang Club staff. SMU's SAAC representatives and their teammates from all sports are taking time out before finals to thank the donors whose funds provide the necessary resources for Mustang student-athletes to pursue academic and athletic excellence at SMU.
"I love being able to participate in the Thank-A-Thon to let our generous donors know how much they are appreciated," expressed Alisha Filmore, women's basketball senior and SAAC President. "It is amazing to hear the excitement in their voices when they find out we are calling just to say thank you."
SAAC is also giving back to the student-athletes for all their hard work over the semester. SAAC is hosting its inaugural Study "Break"fast for Dinner on Wednesday, Dec. 5, from 6-9 p.m. in the Hall of Champions. All student-athletes are welcome to take a break and get refueled and refocused with breakfast for dinner.
The Mustang Club is the philanthropic arm of the athletic department that raises funds to support SMU's 17 varsity sports. The primary objective of the Mustang Club is to provide the necessary resources so that each of our student-athletes as they pursue comprehensive excellence at SMU.
