DALLAS (SMU) - SMU's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will be participating in Conference USA's Changing Lives community outreach competition. The event involves a canned food drive that will run from Friday, Oct. 14th, through Friday, Oct. 21st, with a full week of athletic and community opportunities to participate in the drive.
All Conference USA institutions are participating in the competition and the member institution that collects the most food by weight during its food drive will be awarded the Conference USA Cup.
The first opportunity to contribute to the event will be Saturday, Oct. 15th, at the SMU-UCF football game. SMU student-athletes will be collecting money and canned goods on the Boulevard from 12-2 p.m. and then will take donations at the entrances to Ford Stadium from 2-2:45 p.m.
Additionally, there will be drop off points at:
Oct. 17th - Hughes-Trigg - 11a.m.-1 p.m.
Oct. 20th - Hughes-Trigg - 11a.m.-1 p.m.
Oct. 21st - Women Swimming Classic - Perkins Natatorium - 6:30-7:30 p.m.
All food will be donated to the North Texas Food Bank.
