NEW ORLEANS, LA. (USTFCCCA) -- The SMU women's cross country team is ranked fourth in the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) South Central Region preseason poll. The team returns six letterwinners and will seek to claim the first American Athletic Conference Championship this fall.

The Mustangs return three Conference USA second team selections, including senior Caitlin Keen and sophomores Karoline Skatteboe and Shanoah Souza after winning their fourth C-USA championship in five years a season ago.

In addition, Coach Cathy Casey expects freshmen Tova Magnusson, Agnes Sjöström and sophomore Melanie Stemper to make an immediate impact.

Rounding out the top three in the South Central Region, just ahead of the Mustangs are Arkansas, Texas and Texas A&M.

SMU opens its season at the Bear Twilight Invitational, hosted by Baylor University on Aug. 30, at 6 p.m.
