DALLAS (SMU) - Courtney Manning was named to the COBRA Magazine Midsouth All-Region Team Tuesday, with senior Dana Powell earning honorable mention after record-setting seasons.

Manning, a Plano, Texas native, broke her own single-season record with a nation-leading 184 blocks, leading the conference and ranking 11th in the NCAA with 1.44 per set. The junior is currently third all-time at SMU with 474 career blocks. She posted 274 kills during the season at her middle blocker position, ranking third on the team, and posted a double-double with 12 kills and 11 blocks against Tulane. Manning has also been named First Team All-Conference USA.

Powell concluded her career with 1,539 kills and 1,641 digs, ranking second at SMU in both categories. She became the first player in SMU history with at least 1,500 kills and digs. The outside hitter led the Mustangs in kills for the third-straight season with 375 during her senior campaign. Powell, a Tulsa, Okla., native, was named Second Team All-Conference USA, becoming the first Mustang to earn All-Conference honors all four year.

SMU concluded its season Saturday with a 3-2 win over Tulsa in Moody Coliseum, sweeping the season series for the first time since 2003. The Mustangs snapped the Golden Hurricane's 26-match conference win streak with a 3-1 win in Tulsa on Oct. 5.
