DALLAS (SMU) - Caroline Young was named Best SMU Female Athlete in the 2013 Readers' Choice Awards by The Daily Campus. The online survey contest gave readers the opportunity to vote on their favorite in 100 categories at SMU and in the Park Cities.

Young, a native of Brenham, Texas, earned All-America honorable mention, and was named to both the All-Midwest and Conference USA first teams after finishing the season tied for 12th in the NCAA with 51 aces, and was just outside the top 100 in the country in points per set, averaging 4.12 points per set. Young led the Mustangs and finished ninth in Conference USA with 3.39 kills per set, scoring 397 kills, which is sixth in the league.

Young had at least 20 kills in seven matches, including a career-high 26 in a 3-1 win at UCF, the first of a four-match win streak for the Mustangs. She also had 23 kills and a career-high 18 digs against Army for her first double-double. She finished the season with 125 digs and 63 blocks as a right side attacker, and was twice named C-USA Offensive Player of the Week.
