Complete 2014 Schedule

DALLAS (SMU) -- The SMU women's track and field team enters the new American Athletic Conference and has announced its schedule for the 2014 indoor and outdoor season.

The 2014 slate features six indoor competitions and 11 outdoor meets.

The Mustangs open the indoor season with a trip to the Texas A&M Invitational in College Station, Texas, Jan. 17-18. That meet is followed with a trip to Houston, Texas, for the Howie Ryan Invitational from Jan. 25-26.

On February 2, SMU travels to Lubbock, Texas for the Red Raider Invitational, which is followed by the Iowa State Invitational just a few days later on February 6-8 in Ames, Iowa.

The indoor conference season will conclude with the American Athletic Conference Championships on Feb. 28 - March 1 in New York, N.Y. (Qualifiers will compete at the NCAA event in mid-March.)

SMU's outdoor schedule begins with seven consecutive weekends of competition starting on March 21 at the TCU Horned Frog Invitational in Fort Worth, Texas. On March 26-29, SMU travels to Austin, Texas, for the Texas Relays.

April 4-5 SMU splits the team between trips to Palo Alto, Calif., and Tempe, Ariz., where they will compete at the Stanford Invitational and the Sun Angel Classic.

On April 19, the Mustangs have their track and field student-athletes in three different places as they will compete in the Michael Johnson Invitational in Waco, Texas, the Sooner Invitational in Norman, Oklahoma and the Mount Sac Relays (April 17-19) in Walnut, Calif.

SMU's final tune up before the American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships takes place on April 25-26 at the Texas State Invitational in San Marcos, Texas. The aforementioned American Championships will be in Tampa, Fla., from May 2-4.

The 2014 slate wraps up with NCAA competition beginning with the NCAA Preliminary Round, May 23-24, in Fayetteville, Ark. The NCAA Championships will be held June 11-14 in Eugene, Ore.
