SACRAMENTO, CALIF. (SMU) - SMU's Karin van Rooyen just missed claiming All-America honors at the 2005 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, as the senior finished ninth in the women's 10,000m run finals at the Alex G. Spanos Sports Complex.

Running the 10,000m for only the third time in her collegiate career, the Ermelo, South Africa, native finished in 33:42.56, just 11 seconds out of eighth place. Though she qualified for two events - the 5,000m and 10,000m runs - the cross country All-American elected to participate in only the 10,000-meter event. van Rooyen was SMU's lone representative at the meet.
