Franziska Lakomy Takes Second in Heptathlon at 2005 WAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships

Tulsa, Okla. - SMU sophomore Franziska Lakomy finished strong after Thursday's results of the final three heptathlon events at the 2005 WAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships held in Tulsa, Okla. The Beesenstedt, Germany, native took second place for her efforts.

Lakomy won the javelin throw and 800-meter run but fell just short on points, totaling 5,112 points and earning eight team points for SMU. Taking first place and claiming 10 team points was Fresno State's Katie Christianson with 5,215 points.

The WAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships kick into full gear Friday and Saturday with a full slate of events scheduled on both days.
