Mustangs In First At WAC Championships

Boise, Idaho (SMU)- After their second day of competition at the WAC Indoor Track and Field Championships, the Mustangs are in first place. The team has been awarded 39 points thus far in the competition.

Sophomore Gaelle Niare took first place in the high jump with a leap of 1.90 meters. Teammates Alesha Stegemoller and Marie Norrman placed second (1.75m) and sixth (1.66m) respectively in the event.

Karin van Rooyen won the 5000 meter race in a time of 16:50.34, more than 15 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. Nicole Kelleher placed fifth in the race with a time of 17:22.52 and Jessica Jackson finished seventh in 17:40.39.

Competiton continues Saturday in Boise.
