SMU's Season Ends After First Day At NCAA Championships

EUGENE, Ore. (SMU) - The SMU Mustangs' 2013 track and field season ended on Wednesday after the first day at the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore.

All three Mustangs that traveled to Oregon - Stephanie Kalu, Lucija Cvitanovic and Elizabeth Murphy gave it their best efforts but could not advance to the finals in their respective events.

Murphy had the first chance for SMU on Wednesday, competing in the hammer throw. She was seeded 13th for the event and finished 15th after recording a throw of 60.68 meters.

Cvitanovic was seeded seventh in javelin, but wound up 14th after posting a distance of 47.61 meters.

Kalu placed 22nd on Wednesday after being seeded 23rd. She beat her time from the NCAA Preliminaries by .13 seconds, but it was not enough to advance to the finals on Friday.
