WACO, Texas (SMU) - Lucija Cvitanovic tallied the third-best javelin distance in SMU history, recording a personal-best length of 49.03 meters at the Michael Johnson Classic hosted by Baylor on Saturday. Cvitanovic finished second in the event.
Rayann Chin also posted a second-place finish in the discus, throwing for a distance of 50.65 meters. Elizabeth Murphy also earned a top-three finish in a throwing event for SMU, placing third in the hammer throw at 57.83 meters.
SMU's sprinters also gave a good showing on Saturday, with Stephanie Kalu finsihing third in the 100m dash (11.74) and Craishia Washington placing fourth in the 200m (24.17). Maresha Carrie finished fourth in the 400m hurdles (1:05.02).
The Mustangs will compete next at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa starting Thursday. The meet will run through Saturday.
