Mustangs Win In Four Events At TCU Invitational

FORT WORTH, Texas (SMU) - The SMU Mustangs had a strong start to their outdoor track season at the TCU Invitational on Thursday and Friday. Two school records were set and the Mustangs won four events.

Isis Wilson, Rachel Scruggs, Stephanie Kalu and Craishia Washington teamed up to set the 4x100 meter relay record, placing first with a time of 44.96. Kalu also set the program record in the 100 meter dash at 11.38, good for third in the event.

Lucija Cvitanovic placed first in the javelin throw with 46.43 meters. Mary Alenbratt took the top spot in the 3000 meter event (9:43.50) and Karoline Skatteboe won the 1500 meter race (4:40.11).

SMU also had a trio of runner-up finishes. Lisa Egarter and Cvitanovic tied for second in the high jump with a best attempt of 1.73 meters. Helena Perez took second in the shot put (15.85 meters) and Elizabeth Murphy posted the third-best hammer throw in SMU history with a 62.25 meter toss.

SMU will next participate in the Bobby Lane Invitational hosted by UT-Arlington this coming Friday and Saturday.
