FORT WORTH, Texas (SMU) - After sitting idle for the past two weeks, the SMU women's tennis team is back in action on Thursday as it begins play at the ITA Texas Regional. Sophomore Vaszilisza Bulgakova has a 4-2 overall singles record through her first two tournaments of the fall season.

In singles, Bulgakova reached the round of 16 at both the Amelia Island 10K Championships and USTA Women's 10K Tournament. Freshman Macie Elliott has a 2-1 overall record as she reached the semifinals in the first tournament of her young career at the Colorado Invitational. 

In addition, sophomores Hristina Dishkova (1-2) and Yana Erkeeva (1-1), and freshmen Anna Kate Anderson (0-2) and Dasha Sharapova (1-1) have also competed in singles matches for the Mustangs.

In doubles, SMU has two duos who have posted 2-1 marks overall. Elliott and Sharapova fell in the semifinals after winning their first two matches at the Colorado Invitational. Meanwhile, Bulgakova and Dishkova competed together at the Amelia Island 10K Championships where they fell in the quarterfinals.

The ITA Texas Regional begins on Thursday, Oct. 17 and continues through Sunday, Oct. 21.
