SKILLMAN, N.J. (ITA/SMU) --- The SMU women's tennis team continued to rack up academic honors for the 2011-12 campaign.

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) named SMU women's tennis to its 2012 NCAA Division I All-Academic Team. Additionally, Perri Anderson and Erika Marschall were named ITA Scholar-Athletes.

To qualify as an ITA All-Academic Team, a school must hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher. To earn individual honors, an athlete must be a varsity letter winner, hold a GPA of 3.5 or better, and be enrolled in their current university for at least two semesters.

SMU's strive for academic excellence certainly shone through with the women's tennis team. These most recent honors added to the all-conference honors received by Anderson and Marschall, as well as Edyta Cieplucha, Shahzoda Hatamova, Marta Lesniak, Kristina Roberts, Heather Steinbauer, and Ashley Turpin, who were all named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll.

Anderson also received a Conference USA Commissioner's Academic Medal for maintaining a cumulative GPA of at least 3.75 during the past season.
