Bulgakova And Malyarchikova Earn No. 61 Ranking In Doubles #PonyUp

SKILLMAN, N.J. (SMU/ITA) --- The SMU women's tennis duo of Aleksandra Malyarchikova and Vaszilisza Bulgakova earned the No. 61 spot in the ITA rankings released on Tuesday. The duo is coming off back-to-back wins against ranked opponents, earning an 8-6 victory over No. 47 Millie Nichols and Smith of No. 35 TCU followed by an 8-6 triumph against No. 17 Natalie Beazant and Harmath of Rice.

Bulgakova, a freshman, and Malyarchikova, a senior, have played just 14 matches together. They are 8-6 on the season with three of the losses against ranked pairs. In singles, Malyarchikova moved up to No. 73 after she defeated No. 75 Olivia Smith of TCU 6-4, 6-4, then upended No. 72 Daminique Harmath of Rice 6-2, 6-2. Malyarchikova (21-6) is now 5-3 against ranked opponents this year. Malyarchikova was named C-USA Tennis Athlete of the Week for 4-0 performance against ranked foes in the past two matches.

The No. 52 ranked Mustangs host UTA in the regular season finale on Wednesday at Northwood Country Club at 4 p.m.
