SAN DIEGO, Calif. (SMU) - Sophomore Yana Erkeeva improved to 6-3 this fall as she defeated Utah senior Lucia Kovarcikova, 6-0, 4-3 (retired), as the SMU women's tennis team competed on day two of the second annual San Diego State Classic. Seven Mustangs competed on day two of the Classic.

Erkeeva now faces Washington junior Julija Lukac in the finals of her singles bracket.

In addition to Erkeeva, freshman Anna Kate Anderson improved her overall record to 4-4 this fall as she beat San Diego State junior Hailey Johnson, 6-3, 7-5. Anderson next competes against Utah sophomore Sarah Richter in the finals of her singles bracket.

In doubles, SMU was led by sophomore Vaszilisza Bulgakova and freshman Dasha Sharapova as the duo improved to 5-0 together this fall. They defeated UW junior Natali Coronel and sophomore Grace Ysidora, 8-6. Sophomore Hristina Dishkova and junior Holly Verner also improved to a perfect 5-0 mark this fall as the tandem defeated San Diego State sophomore Dora Somoracz and Johnson, 8-3.

Each duo now competes in the finals of their respective doubles brackets.

The San Diego State Classic ends Sunday for day three of competition in San Diego, Calif.
