FORT WORTH, Texas (SMU) -- No. 10 Marta Lesniak  and Edyta Cieplucha both advanced to the singles quarterfinals Saturday at the ITA Regional in Fort Worth. They then paired up to compete as the top-seed in the doubles tournament, advancing to the quarterfinals as well. All three quarterfinal matches will be played on Sunday.

No. 10 Lesniak started off strong sweeping UNT’s Franziska Sprinkmeyer 6-0, 6-0 in the round of 64. After a doubles match and a 3-set singles match, she fought through leg cramps in the third set to rally for a tiebreaker victory against Stephanie Tan (TCU) to advance to the quarterfinals. Ranked fourth best in SMU’s history for her 96 career wins, Lesniak is now 11-2 for the season. She will compete against Caroline Starck (TT) Sunday in hopes of making the semifinals.

Cieplucha, the No. 7 seed in this regional tournament, defeated Barbora Vykydalova (UNT) 6-4, 6-1, Stefania Nicolae (TAMUCC) 6-1, 6-2, and Natalie Beazant 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 in order to move to the quarterfinals. She is now 3-2 for the season and will face Cristina Sanchez-Quintanar (TAMU) Sunday.

After hard-fought singles matches, Cieplucha and Lesniak teamed up to compete in the doubles tournament. They won their first two matches handily 8-2 and 8-1 in order to continue to the quarterfinal round. The pair will take on the No. 8 seed Beazant and Harmath (RU) Sunday morning.

Also qualifying to play in the event for SMU were Heather Steinbauer, Erika Marshall, Shahzoda Hatamova, Perri Anderson, and Kris Roberts. Hatamova and Steinbauer both advanced to the round of 64 in the 128-person singles draw. They they then paired up as a doubles team, making it to the round of 16. Also in doubles, the Anderson and Roberts formed a duo to win their first-round matchup.
