DALLAS (SMU) --- Edyta Cieplucha defeated No. 12 Mary Ann Macfarlane of No. 9 Alabama on Sunday at the Northwood Country Club. The win put SMU on the board in 6-1 loss to the Crimson Tide. It was the third match in three days for SMU against a top-60 opponent.

"Today's match was a close 6-1," said head coach Kati Gyulai. "We had some breakthrough performances. Overall, this was a tough weekend for us early in the season. It gave us an opportunity to assess where we are physically, mentally and emotionally. We have eight days to prepare for our next contest. "
