DALLAS (SMU) - SMU swimmers Nina Rangelova, Raminta Dvariskyte and Denisa Smolenova all had strong performances at the national championships for their respective countries this past week.
Sophomore standout Nina Rangelova recorded four wins, setting four national records, at the Bulgarian National Championships. Rangelova won the 50-meter freestyle, touching the wall in 25.06. She earned top honors in the 50- and 100-meter butterflies, recording times of 27.97 and 1:00.50, respectively. Rangelova also took first place in the 200-meter individual medley with a time of 2:15.60.
Senior Raminta Dvariskyte won all of her events at the Lithuanian National Championships. The breaststroke specialist earned first-place finishes in the 50-, 100- and 200-meter events, clocking at 31.50, 1:09.99 and 2:32.01, respectively.
Slovakian senior Denisa Smolenova earned a pair of runner-up honors while competing at the Mexican National Championships. Smolenova placed second in the 100-meter freestyle with a time of 56.34. She also finished second in the 100-meter butterfly, touching the wall in 1:00.15.
