DALLAS (SMU) – The SMU women’s swimming and diving team has entered the College Swimming Coaches Association of American (CSCAA) Poll tied for 25th among Division I programs.
“We are very happy to be recognized as a top 25 team in the latest poll,” Head Coach Steve Collins said.
The Mustangs most recently finished fourth at the Texas A&M Invite behind current No. 1 Texas A&M, No. 2 Stanford and Louisiana State University, who is receiving votes in the poll. Junior Rachel Nicol established a new school standard in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:00.51 in the preliminaries, and followed the performance up with a 1:00.58 and fourth place finish in the finals.
SMU established multiple NCAA ‘B’ Standard qualifying times in the meet and numerous season best performances.
“The team is working to prepare for the American Athletic Conference Championship in February where we will look to qualify our team for the NCAA Championships,” Collins said.
The Ponies compete again as a team on Jan. 11, 2014 in a dual meet at No. 1 Texas A&M.
