The SMU women's swimming and diving team had a second successful day at the Texas A&M Invite, taking several top spots in the events they competed in.
In the 200 yard medley relay, the Mustang A team (Roxane Akradi, Tamara Sambrailo, Martina Hrdinova and Laura Pomeroy) placed second in a time of 1:41.14. The B team (Anja Carman, Corrie Clark, Leane Darling and Celina Lemmen) placed third in 1:42.69. The C team placed eighth in 1:48.02.
Sara Nordenstam placed second in the 400 yard IM in a time of 4:19.25. Leane Darling and Martina Hrdinova placed second and third, respectively, in the 100 yard butterfly in times of 55.54 and 55.76.
The Mustangs captured five of the top six spots in the 200 yard freestyle. Candace Blackman won the event with a time of 1:46.90, followed by Celina Lemmen and Katie Roberts in times of 1:47.00 and 1:48.40. Jennifer Blackman and Mariza Grundlingh placed fifth and sixth with times of 1:49.62 and 1:50.57.
Corrie Clark and Tamara Sambrailo took the top two spots in the 100 yard breaststroke event, with times of 1:01.80 and 1:01.83, respectively. Anja Carman won the 100 yard backstroke event in 54.13. Roxane Akradi followed in third in 55.01.
Liz Pike placed second in the three meter diving event, adding 17 points to the Mustangs' tally. Christina Hussong placed seventh in the event, giving the Mustangs 12 points.
The Mustang A team (Anja Carman, Candace Blackman, Katie Roberts and Celina Lemmen) won the 800 yard freestyle relay in a time of 7:10.46. The B team (Mariza Grundlingh, Jennifer Blackman, Leane Darling and Flavia Rigamonti) placed second in 7:20.52. The Mustang C team placed fifth.
Competition continues Sunday in College Station.
