Rangelova Posts Eighth-Place Finish In 200-Free Finals

BERLIN (SMU) - SMU women's swimming alum Nina Rangelova posted her second eighth place finish at the European Swimming Championships on Saturday. The Plovdiv, Bulgaria, native clocked in at 1:58.56 in the 200-meter freestyle to improve upon her semifinals time, which was a Bulgarian National Record.

Rangelova also finished eighth in the 100-meter freestyle on Wednesday to give her a pair of finals appearances in three tries at the Championships. She also competed in the 50-meter freestyle today, but was unable to qualify for semifinals.

The European Championships close out summer competition for the Mustangs, as the 2014-15 school year begins on Monday. SMU hosts the annual intra-squad event on Sept. 19 at the A.R. Barr Outdoor Pool and follows it up with the North Texas Relays on Sept. 26 in Southlake, Texas.
