SASKATOON, Saskatchewan (SMU) – SMU senior Rachel Nicol placed second in the 200-meter breaststroke at the 2014 Canadian Swimming Championships on Wednesday.

The Lethbridge, Alberta, native, who finished second in the prelims earlier in the day with a 2:29.67, improved her time to 2:29.16 to secure the runner-up honor.

In 2012, Nicol set the SMU standard in the 200-yard breaststroke and is second on the all-time list in the 100-yard breaststroke. She is also a two-time All-America selection (2012, 2014).

Nicol is one of numerous SMU swimmers competing globally this summer. Check SMUMustangs.com, "like" the Mustangs on Facebook (/SMUSwimDiveW) and "follow" on Twitter (@SMUSwimmingW) for the latest updates.
