Mustangs Sit Fourth After Night One At Texas A&M

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (SMU) - The SMU women's swimming and diving team turned in four NCAA "B" standard qualifying performances on night one of the Art Adamson Invitational at Texas A&M University on Thursday.
SMU sits ahead of TCU and Air Force, while No. 7 Stanford leads the way followed by No. 4 and host Aggies and LSU.
The 200-yard freestyle relay team of seniors Monika Babok and Nina Rangelova and juniors Isabella Arcila and Nathalie Lindborg started the evening off with a third place finish in a time of 1:30.16. The time was a season-best for the Mustangs besting a previous mark of 1:33.99 that was set at the SMU Classic on Oct. 18.
In the 500-yard freestyle finals, Rangelova hit the "B" standard mark with the fifth fastest time of the night. Her season-best finish of 4:47.72 improved her time by over two seconds from the preliminaries. Rangelova previously swam a 4:51.11 at the SMU Classic.
Both Arcila and Lindborg hit qualifying marks in the 50-yard freestyle finishing first and third, respectively, in the B Final. The pair turned in sub-23 second performances with Arcila clocking in at 22.81 and Lindborg finishing in a time of 22.99.
SMU finished night one with a fourth place finish in the 400-yard medley relay. Arcila, Babok, Lindborg and junior Rachel Nicol touched the wall in a time of 3:38.75.
