Razorback Relays - Complete Results Get Acrobat Reader

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (SMU) - The SMU women's swimming and diving team opened the season with a third-place finish at the Razorback Relays on Saturday at Arkansas Natatorium. Arkansas won the event which featured 12 relay races.

The team of sophomore Nathalie Lindborg, freshman Danielle Villars, freshman Rebecka Ekelund and junior All-America Nina Rangelova won the 800-yard freestyle relay, clocking in with a time of 7:25.23.

Rangelova also brought home gold in the 500-yard freestyle relay (4:30.73), anchoring the squad of junior All-America Monika Babok, sophomore Nicole Parmenter and Ekelund.

In the 200-yard freestyle relay, Parmenter, N. Lindborg, Babok and senior Chole Farrar earned a first-place finish (1:35.58).

The Mustangs garnered runner-up honors in the 3x100-yard backstroke relay. Sophomore All-America Isabella Arcila, freshman Anna Volchkov and junior Deanna Matthews combined for a time of 2:49.77.

SMU also earned silver in the 3x100-yard breaststroke relay as sophomore All-Americas Erica Donadon and Rachel Nicol teamed with C. Farrar to touch the wall in 3:17.03.

Arcila, Nicol, Villars and Matthews finished second in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 3:47.24.

Nicol picked up her third silver of the night and more points for SMU as she joined Donadon, Matthews and Elizabeth Krane to swim the 400-yard medley individual relay in 4:00.30.

The Ponies closed out competition with a second-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay, courtesy of Arcila, N. Lindborg, C. Farrar and senior Hannah Ferrin.

In diving, sophomore Sky Corbett-Methot placed third in the three-meter event with a score of 312.10.

The Mustangs host the annual SMU Classic, featuring Florida, Texas, Louisville, North Carolina and UNC, Oct. 19-20 at Perkins Natatorium.
