KANSAS CITY, Kan. (SMU) - The SMU Mustangs women's soccer team received the NSCAA Academic Team Award, the organization announced Thursday. SMU has now earned the award three straight years.

To receive the recognition, a team must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. The Team Academic Award honors a squad's exemplary efforts in the classroom and on the field. A total of 593 women's soccer programs in the nation earned the honor.

This achievement marks another academic honor bestowed upon the Mustangs, after junior Shelby Redman was named to the CoSida Academic All-District team on Oct. 31. Redman also earned second team all-conference honors with Rikki Clarke, while Taylor Barg landed on the all-freshman team.
