DALLAS (SMU) - The SMU Mustangs have announced its 2013 women's soccer schedule, and the slate includes 11 games at Westcott Field. Of that 11, five are against foes from the American Athletic Conference, which SMU will join on July 1.
SMU will open its regular season with a home match against Louisiana-Monroe on Friday Aug. 23 at 7 p.m. The five other non-conference home games include matches against Colorado State, in-state rivals Baylor and TCU, Sam Houston State and DePaul.
The Mustangs travel to Arkansas for its second game on Aug. 25. SMU then plays Colorado State and Baylor in the second weekend of the season, on Aug. 30 and Sept. 1. SMU will then travel to the Carolinas to play at Davidson on Sept. 6 and South Carolina on Sept. 8.
The Mustangs then host rival TCU on Thursday Sept. 12 at 7 p.m. SMU has never lost to its rival from the other side of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, with a 26-0-2 record all-time against the Horned Frogs. Shelby Redman scored on a 30-yard strike with two seconds remaining as SMU picked up the road win last season. SMU will continue with two more home games against Sam Houston State (Sept. 16) and DePaul (Sept. 19) to finish its non-conference schedule.
In its first game as a member of the AAC, SMU will play at UCONN on Sept. 26 at 6 p.m. That match will be followed by a visit to Temple on Sept. 29. Louisville will visit the Hilltop in SMU's first conference home game on Oct. 3, and the Mustangs will play Cincinnati at home on Oct. 6. SMU will then visit Memphis (Oct. 10) and Rutgers (Oct. 13) before closing the season with three straight home matches against Houston (Oct. 18), South Florida (Oct. 24) and UCF (Oct. 27).
