DALLAS (SMU) - The SMU Mustangs will have a tough spring test when they host the Baylor Bears on Sunday at 7 p.m. at Westcott Field.
SMU has played three games this spring so far, going 2-1. The Mustangs defeated Louisiana Tech 1-0 on March 23, behind a goal from Shelby Redman. Courtney Smith provided the assist on the score, and Lauryn Bodden combined with Shannon Moroney for the shutout. The Mustangs then hosted the Austin Nationals, a professional exhibition team, on March 30, winning 5-1. Redman and Olivia Elliott each scored twice while Lissi Lonsberry also tallied a goal in the victory. Next up was a trip to Stillwater, Okla. for a match against Oklahoma State, which SMU dropped, 2-0.
Baylor finished 2012 ranked No. 11 in the nation with a 19-1-5 record. Baylor won the Big 12 Championship and advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament, where they lost to eventual national champion North Carolina via penalty kicks. SMU pushed the Bears to two overtimes in Waco on Sept. 14, but ultimately fell 2-1.
Admission to all spring soccer games is free, and fans are allowed to bring their own snacks and beverages into the event.
