DALLAS (SMU) - The SMU Mustangs, coming off a Conference USA semifinal appearance, will look to make gains toward next season during five games over the next five weeks. The spring season will kickoff on Saturday at 4 p.m. as SMU hosts Lousiana Tech.
Four of the five matches will be played at Westcott Field. Admission is free and fans are allowed to bring their own snacks and beverages into the stadium.
Louisiana Tech is coming off a 2012 fall season that resulted in 12-5-4 overall record and a fourth place finish in the WAC.
Next, the Mustangs will host the Austin Nationals on March 30 at 4 p.m. The Nationals are a professional exhibition team that will follow the match against SMU with games at Texas Tech, Rice, Texas State and New Mexico.
SMU will play its lone road spring game at Oklahoma State on April 7 at 3 p.m. Oklahoma State went 11-6-3 in 2012 and finished seventh in the Big 12, losing to No. 14 Baylor in the first round of the Big 12 Soccer Championship.
That same Baylor team will visit the Hilltop on April 13 at 7 p.m. Baylor finished ranked No. 11 in the nation with a 19-1-5 record. Baylor won the Big 12 Championship and advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament, where they lost to eventual national champion North Carolina via penalty kicks. SMU pushed the Bears to two overtimes in Waco on Sept. 14, but ultimately fell 2-1.
SMU will round out their five-game spring season against North Texas at Westcott Field on April 20 at 4 p.m.
