Mustangs Set For Head Of The Oklahoma
Oct. 3, 2013
DALLAS (SMU) - The SMU rowing team opens the fall portion of its 2013-14 schedule at the Head of the Oklahoma in Oklahoma City this weekend.
"We've had a great start to our fall season with training and we are looking forward to putting that all to the test this weekend," Head Coach Doug Wright said.
At the event in 2012, Moore was part of a team that won the 500-meter sprint in a time of 1:51.3. She also earned a fifth-place finish as part of a duo that finished in a time of 18:15.1 in a 2.5-mile head race.
The junior duo of Chantelle and her twin sister Dominique Conley also turned in a top-10 finish for SMU with a time of 18:16.3 in a 2.5-mile race of their own.
"We are looking to capitalize on our experience in the small boats and to put our freshmen to the test as we go up against former C-USA opponents Oklahoma, Kansas and Kansas State," Wright said. "We will also see future American Athletic Conference member and familiar foe Tulsa."
The 1x is the first event for the Mustangs on Saturday and will begin at approximately 11 a.m. CT.
Following the trip to Oklahoma City, the Mustangs are on a two week hiatus and return to action on Saturday, Oct. 26 at the Head of the Colorado in Austin, Texas.
