Women's Rowing

Entry 2

My name is Kelly C. Burke -- but I go by 'K.C.' -- and I am a junior on the rowing team. This will be my 3rd year rowing for the SMU Mustangs.

We had our first 30-minute erg test last Thursday afternoon. Everyone did an amazing job, all the hour runs and early morning practices are paying-off. We have now been in-season for 4 weeks. We are all really excited to be back on the water again. We are in the weight room on Monday and Wednesday and on the water almost every morning. Everyone is adjusting very well to waking up early again.

The team is bonding very nicely, and we are having fun getting ready for our first race. Our freshman are meshing very well with the rest of the team, and we are all having a lot of fun rowing in different boats every morning and learning more about our teammates everyday.

With less then 4 weeks till our first race, we have all been picking up the intensity and getting ready to show all the other schools what SMU rowers are made of. We had a successful fall last year and are anticipating an ever better fall season this year. We are all very excited to see how the next nine months go.
