Entry 18
With classes out, the Mustangs are focusing on two things: studying and practice. In a way we are preparing for more than one type of final exam: the ones that determine our final grades in the classroom, and our last appearance of the season back in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. After a successful weekend in Omaha, Nebraska, the Mustangs are back at White Rock Lake doing 500-meter pieces during our study breaks. This time of year is stressful for every student at SMU, but more so for the rowers since we have more than just academics on our minds. Thankfully, getting out on the lake for some fresh air is a great stress reliever during a hard week of final exams. In about a week and a half, the team is leaving for Oak Ridge, Tennessee to compete in the South/Central Regional Championships. Everyone is excited to return to Oak Ridge's beautiful race course to perform at the competition that we have been preparing for all season. Once Regionals are over, everyone is home free for the summer and expected to train independently for next season. It's important to remember that medals are earned in the "off" season and picked up in the fall. Check back for our results in Tennessee, and we'll see you next fall! -Nicolle Keogh '11 |
