Women's Rowing

Entry 14

Greeting Rowing Fans!

My name is Amanda DeGroff and I am a senior racing through my last semester. Each year spring break has been an experience to remember. From my freshman year as a novice to my last spring break as an SMU Rower, all memories will be treasured. This year more than ever, I learned what it means to be an SMU Rower. Solidifying my expectations, this year's team rose to the occasion. After I graduate I have no doubt that the remaining classes will work their tails off to accomplish goals and become better rowers. SMU sports fans get ready because the SMU Rowing team is not just a team but a family. I have witnessed girls sticking up for each other in ways only sisters would do. It has been an honor to be called an SMU Rower. Keep your eyes open because this season is almost in full swing!

Spring Break can be summed up in a few words: amazing, successful, and let's be honest -- long days of rowing. Spring Break 2008 was named Cabo San White Rock. Yes, as SMU students traveled all over the world, the Women's Rowing team got golden tans from the one and only Dallas sun. The past week has been successful in many areas. Teammates developed closer relationships while we all increased our fitness levels. Each athlete worked diligently to improve their boat skills. Cabo San White Rock was the only place to be for spring break 2008!

Get ready for a great season because the Mustangs are ready to PONY UP!
