Hi, my name is Caitlin "Red" Ludwig and I am a junior on the rowing team. This week we continue preparing for our first and only home race this year against Creighton. This will be the first test of all our hard work we have put in over the past six weeks.
We have been training hard on the ergs and just last week we were able to get back on the water at the early hour of 5:30 a.m. In the spring we switch gears and train for shorter sprint races. This involves short pieces on the erg and weight circuits to prepare our muscles for the short high intensity of spring racing.
Recently, we began practicing yoga to improve our mental and physical strength. It is interesting to see how a set of intense stretches can make even the strongest of rowers lose their composure. I know that if we continue with the yoga our whole team will have the concentration of Mr. Miyagi.
