Women's Rowing

Entry 11

Hello ya'll! My name is Ellen Cieszkiewicz. I am a senior on the SMU Rowing team. We just got back on it after the holidays. Boy those holidays are nice: pumpkin pie, presents, and roasting chestnuts. So now that we are back, the whole team is working hard to gain strength and endurance for the upcoming spring season. So back to indoor training which includes a lot of erging and weight lifting. I just remind myself when my muscles are sore, that just means I am working hard :-).

This is a bitter sweet year for all the seniors. We all hope that our senior class has set an example for the youngins to carry on the SMU Rowing work ethic. As seniors I know we are all more motivated than ever to do well this last spring season that we have together. It is hard to believe how far we have come. I still have very distinct memories of freshmen year and just learning how to row…Thanks Kevin. Every day at practice is a challenge, but I have learned that it is important to always have a sense of humor and a smile on my face. When things get hard, I think about the importance of what we are doing and our long term goal to win.

We have a lot of racing this spring. We kick off against Creighton at White Rock Lake on March 8th. If you are reading this, YOU SHOULD COME CHEER US ON! There is nothing better than the support of our fellow mustangs.
