LEWISBURG, Pa. (SMU) - SMU senior Emily Carstens took home more honors as the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) announced she made the All-South Region Second Team, as well as earning CRCA scholar athlete recognition.

Carstens has received significant recognition during her time at SMU, including being invited to the U.S. National Rowing Team Identification Camp twice. She also holds the second-fastest erg time in program history. This season, she has raced in all ten events and led the Mustangs to wins over Creighton and Kansas State.

Carstens, a native of Tulsa, Okla., was on the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll all four years at SMU, and was recently awarded the Meyers Brother Award, which is presented to SMU student-athletes for combined athletic achievement, academic success and community involvement. The team captain serves as the Vice President of Community Service for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, and has competed with the 1st Varsity 8+ crew since her freshman season.
