CATOOSA, Okla. (SMU) - The SMU rowing team concluded the regular season with its best performance of the season, shaving nearly two minutes off of the crew's previous fastest time, but it wasn't enough to take down Tulsa in a head-to-head competition on Saturday.

The SMU 1st Varsity 8+ finished the race course in 5:29.54, easily eclipsing its previous best time of 7:08.80, which the team posted at the San Diego Crew Classic earlier this season. The 2nd Varsity 8+ was just over seven second away from a victory with its fastest time of the year, finishing in 5:34.98.

SMU's Novice 4+ crew was also just seven second behind the Tulsa boat, posting a time of 6:22.30. The Varsity 4+ finished in 7:42.80.

The Mustangs will return to the waters of competition in three weeks when they compete at the Conference USA Championships on May 12 in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
