SMU Just Six Strokes Back At Edwin Watts

KIAWA ISLAND, S.C. (SMU) - The SMU women?s golf team sits in eighth place following the first round of the Edwin Watts/Palmetto Intercollegiate at the 5,911-yard, par-72 Oak Point course with a 16-over 304, just six strokes off the tournament lead.

Individually, SMU?s Jennifer Ackerson is in ninth place, carding a two-over 74. Laura Cross and Ashley Deatherage are not far back at four-over 74, standing in a 27th-place tie. Lacy Jones and Kristina Rothengetter trail slightly, having notched a 78 and 79, respectively.

Campbell and Louisville lead the team event at 10-over 298 and Mayumi Kobayashi of Wisconsin heads the leaderboard at three-uner 69.

The final 36 holes will be recorded on Tuesday, Nov. 2.
