WOLCOTT, Colo. (SMU) - The SMU women's golf team improved its score by three strokes on Tuesday, shooting a 310, the fifth-best team score in the second round of the Golfweek Conference Challenge at Red Sky Golf Club.

Sophomore Jenny Haglund remained in the top 10 on Tuesday, carding a second-round two-over 74. Haglund's round was highlighted by an eagle on the 510-yard par-five 15th. The Mustang sophomore, who finished three-under on par 5s on Tuesday, also birdied the par-five 18th.

Classmate Alexandra Rossi birdied three of her first five holes on the day, finishing with a 76, two strokes lower than her day-one output. Senior Maria Elena Villamil finished with a six-over 78, and is tied with Rossi for 18th on the individual leaderboard heading into the final round.

Reigning champion Pepperdine will take a 22-stroke lead into Wednesday's action, combining for a nine-over 585 through two rounds. Pepperdine's Marissa Chow took sole possession of first place on Tuesday, sitting atop the leaderboard at three-under.  

The Golfweek Conference Challenge will continue tomorrow with a shotgun start that is set to tee-off at 10 a.m. CT.
