LUBBOCK (SMU) - The SMU women?s golf team got off to a great start at the Jeannine McHaney Invitational on Friday, Sept. 24, leading the loaded field with a 291, three-over-par score. SMU is followed by national No.1 Missouri with at 295, No.30 Notre Dame (296), No.15 Oklahoma (295) and No.19 Arkansas (301).

Leading the way for the Mustangs are sophomores Jennifer Ackerson and Kristina Rothengatter who are tied for fifth after shooting even-par 72s. Freshman Lacey Jones, who is competing in her first collegiate event is not far behind, standing in a tie for ninth after carding a one-over 73. Reigning WAC Freshman of the Year Laura Cross is hot on the leaders? trail as well, shooting a 74 to stand in a tie for 13th.

The competition continues Saturday with a shotgun start at 8:15 a.m..
