Mustangs Finish Third at WAC Championships

BOISE, IDAHO (SMU) - The SMU women's golf team finished third at the WAC Championships with a third round of 306, giving them a score of 909 for the tournament.

The Mustangs' top finisher was freshman Lacey Jones, who placed seventh with a tournament score of 225 (+9). Finishing in ninth was sophomore Laura Cross, whose total score was 228 (+12). Jennifer Ackerson finished in a tie for 15th, with a total score of 231 (+15). Also competing for SMU were Ashley Deatherage, who tied for 29th, and Kristina Rothengatter, who finished in 39th after withdrawing from the second round.

Following the tournament, Ackerson and Cross were both tabbed as first-team All-WAC selections. It marks the first time since 1990 that the SMU women's team had multiple players named to an All-Conference squad.

The Mustangs next compete at the NCAA Regional Championship, May 5-7.
