IRVING, Texas (SMU) - SMU senior Melanie White was named to the Conference USA All-Academic team, the conference office announced Friday.
White holds a 3.692 GPA as a management science and finance double major. White has also helped SMU to one of its best seasons in recent memory. The team has three victories on the year, including the Johnie Imes Invitational, in which White took individual medalist honors by six strokes. White broke the total event record by four shots, and set the SMU record with a second round score of 65. White has three rounds in the 60s this season.
The conference already recognized White earlier in the season, giving her Golfer of the Week honors on Oct. 3.
Student-athletes who hold a minimum 3.2 GPA, classified as at least a sophomore and having competed in at least 75 percent of their team's scheduled tournaments are eligible for the all-academic team.
The 2013 C-USA Women's Golf Championship is scheduled for April 22-24 at the Peninsula Golf and Racquet Club in Gulf Shores, Ala.
