Mustangs In Third At WAC Championships

BOISE, IDAHO (SMU) - The SMU women?s golf team is in third place following one round of play at the 2005 WAC Championships at the 6,185-yard, par-72 Falcon Crest Golf Course. SMU, seeking its first conference crown since 1992, carded an opening-round 303 and is two strokes behind co-leaders San Jose and Tulsa.

Individually, SMU has three golfers in the top nine - Lacey Jones, Laura Cross and Kristina Rothengatter. Jones, the reigning WAC Golfer of the Week, and Rothengatter are tied for third after shooting 2-over 74s. Cross is alone in ninth at 4-over 76. Jennifer Ackerson is not far behind, and is tied for 15th at 7-over 79. Ashley Deatherage rounds out the Mustang scorers at 11-over 83 and is tied for 27th.
