SMU Women In Fourth At Tapatio Springs

Boerne, Texas (SMU) - Despite playing without one of its top players, the SMU women?s golf team stands in fourth place after the opening round of the Baylor-Tapatio Springs Shootout at the 6,007-yard, par-72 Tapatio Springs Resort Course.

SMU is playing without Jennifer Ackerson, but still managed a strong 18-hole showing against a loaded 18-team field. The Mustangs are led by Laura Cross and Kristina Rothengatter who are tied for 11th at four-over 76. Lacey Jones is one back at 77 in a tie for 18th, while Whitney Eckert and Ashley Deatherage round out the squad at 85 and 86, respectively.

The tourney continues with an 18-hole second round on Friday beginning at 7:45 a.m. CST.
