Mustangs Tied For 12th

AUSTIN (SMU) - Hampered by nagging injuries to its top two players, the SMU women?s golf team struggled on day one of the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational at The University of Texas Golf Club, carding a 37-over 325 to sit in a 12th-place tie following 18 holes.

Freshman Lacey Jones continued her solid campaign carding a 78 to tie for 21st. However, the Mustangs? top players, Jennifer Ackerson and Laura Cross shot 83 and 81, respectively, as the pair continues to play through injuries. Kristina Rothengatter also carded an 83 and is tied at 63rd while Ashley Deatherage shot 88 and is 95th.

Second-round action begins at 8 a.m. on Saturday.
