MESA, Ariz. (SMU) - The well-rested SMU Mustangs will be looking to build on their latest win two weeks ago at the Clover Cup starting Friday. The tournament is being played at the Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz., and is hosted by Notre Dame.
The Mustangs jumped from third to first in the final round at the Central District Invitational in Parrish, Fla., on Feb. 19, taking home their third win of the 2012-13 season. Jenny Haglund (tied for third) and Felicia Espericueta (sixth) each tallied top-six finishes for SMU. The win marked the first time SMU had three wins in a single season since 1986.
Haglund's performance earned her Conference USA Golfer of the Week honors on Feb. 20.
The Mustangs are ranked No. 35 in the latest GolfWeek/Sagarin rankings, making them the fifth-highest ranked squad in the 16-team field. Third-ranked Oklahoma leads the way, with Texas Tech (11th) and Notre Dame (25th) also in the top-25.
