PARRISH, Fla. (SMU) - Despite playing without standout Laura Cross, the SMU women's golf team still sits in ninth place at 38-over following the first two rounds of the Central District Invitational at the River Wilderness Golf Club.

Leading the way for the Mustangs is Jennifer Ackerson, who sits in a third-place tie after going 73-73-146-+2. Ackerson is just four shots behind leader Stacy Lewis of Arkansas at 2-under.

Freshman Lacey Jones (78-74-152-+8) also played well for the Ponies, standing in a 25th-place tie. Other SMU scores were: Kristina Rothengatter (76-80-156-+12-T41st), Ashley Deatherage (82-78-160-+16-T57) and Whitney Eckert (84-80-164-+20-68).

Cross, the 2004 WAC Freshman of the Year, is missing the event due to minor injuries suffered in a recent auto accident but should return later this season.

The final round is set for Tuesday, Feb. 22, with tee times set at 8 a.m.
